Gnome Run

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Gnome Run, a home-maintenance planning and educational service available at gnomerun.app.

One important thing

Gnome Run helps you organize and understand home maintenance. It does not inspect or monitor your home, identify every possible problem, or replace the judgment of a qualified professional.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By accessing or using Gnome Run, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement where you live. Gnome Run is intended for adults managing a home and is not directed to children under 13.

2. Your account

If you create an account, you are responsible for providing accurate information and maintaining access to the email address or Google account you use to sign in.

You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share sign-in links, allow unauthorized access to your account, or use another person's account without permission.

If you believe someone has accessed your account without authorization, stop using the account until you can secure the email address or Google account associated with it.

Tell us at privacy@gnomerun.app if you believe your account has been used without authorization.

3. What Gnome Run provides

Gnome Run uses information you provide about your home to suggest and organize general home-maintenance tasks, schedules, reminders, and educational instructions.

These recommendations are informational. They may be incomplete, outdated, delayed, or inappropriate for the particular condition, construction, equipment, or location of your home.

Gnome Run does not inspect your home and cannot identify conditions you have not told us about. A missing reminder does not mean that maintenance, repair, inspection, or professional attention is unnecessary.

Gnome Run is not a substitute for an inspection, manufacturer instructions, local building or safety requirements, or advice from a qualified contractor, electrician, plumber, engineer, HVAC technician, pest professional, chimney professional, or other appropriate expert.

4. Safety and your responsibility

Home maintenance can involve risks including electricity, gas, fire, ladders and heights, tools and machinery, chemicals, structural conditions, and other hazards.

You are responsible for deciding whether a task can be performed safely, following manufacturer instructions and applicable laws and codes, using appropriate tools and protective equipment, and hiring a qualified professional when appropriate.

Do not rely on Gnome Run for emergency warnings, hazard detection, or real-time safety monitoring.

If you encounter a potentially dangerous condition, stop work and contact an appropriate professional or emergency service rather than relying on information in Gnome Run.

5. Permitted use

You may use Gnome Run for lawful, personal home-maintenance planning.

You may not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, another account, or related systems;
  • interfere with or disrupt the service;
  • introduce malicious code or use the service for harmful or unlawful activity;
  • impersonate another person;
  • scrape, copy, extract, or reproduce substantial portions of the service or its task library at scale;
  • attempt to circumvent security or access controls; or
  • use the service in a way that violates applicable law or another person's rights.

6. Information you provide

You retain any rights you have in information you provide to Gnome Run.

You give Gnome Run permission to host, store, process, reproduce, and display that information as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and personalize the service for you.

You are responsible for having the right to provide that information and for keeping relevant home information reasonably accurate and current if you rely on your maintenance plan.

How Gnome Run collects, uses, and stores personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Gnome Run materials

The software, design, branding, text, maintenance-task library, instructions, graphics, and other materials provided through Gnome Run are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these terms, you may use Gnome Run for your personal, non-commercial use.

You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, license, publish, or commercially exploit Gnome Run's software, branding, task library, or other proprietary materials except where permission has been given or applicable law allows it.

These terms do not transfer ownership of Gnome Run or its materials to you.

8. Third-party services

Gnome Run relies on third-party providers for services such as hosting, authentication, database storage, email delivery, Google Sign-In, and ZIP-code lookup.

Those providers have their own terms and privacy practices. Gnome Run is not responsible for third-party websites, products, or services that it does not control.

Links to third-party resources are provided for convenience and do not necessarily mean Gnome Run endorses them.

9. Availability and changes

Gnome Run is an early-stage service and will change over time.

We may add, remove, modify, suspend, or discontinue features, maintenance recommendations, or the service itself.

We do not guarantee that Gnome Run will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that every task, reminder, plan, or other record will always be preserved.

Where practical, we will try to communicate material changes that significantly affect saved plans or access to the service.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Gnome Run at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access to Gnome Run if you materially violate these terms, misuse the service, interfere with its operation, or create a significant security or legal risk.

Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination—including provisions concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability—will continue to apply.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, Gnome Run is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We make no warranty that the service or its recommendations will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or suitable for your particular home.

We do not guarantee that completing, delaying, dismissing, or following a recommended task will prevent property damage, personal injury, equipment failure, loss, increased costs, warranty issues, or any other particular outcome.

To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Gnome Run will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of or reliance on the service.

This includes, where permitted by law, loss of data, loss of profits, costs of repairs, property damage, or other losses resulting from reliance on maintenance recommendations, schedules, reminders, or educational information provided through Gnome Run.

To the extent permitted by law, Gnome Run's total liability for claims arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of:

  • the amount you paid to use Gnome Run during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • $100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Gnome Run or its services change.

If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.

By continuing to use Gnome Run after revised terms take effect, you agree to the updated terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the service.
